Course Description:

        Analysis and design of electronic circuits for communication systems, with an emphasis on integrated circuits for wireless communication systems. Analysis of noise and distortion in amplifiers with application to radio receiver design. Power amplifier design with application to wireless radio transmitters. Radio-frequency mixers, oscillators, phase-locked loops, modulators, and demodulators.
 

Course Objectives:

        This course is intended to teach basic circuit theory and principles of electronic engineering as preparation for subsequent EE courses.
 

Textbooks:

        This course will be based on a series of lecture notes which will be posted regularly throughout the semester. While there is no required textbook, you may find the following references useful for background reading. A copy of the classic Gray/Meyer or the updated Hurst/Lewis is indispensible and highly recommended. The Lee and Razavi textbooks are on reserve at the library.
